Female!Doctor...

  • Jul. 18th, 2009 at 4:50 AM
I have been thinking about this for a few days now, so i was wondering what you guys think.

Here's the situation:

Sometime in the future, after Matt Smith ends his reign as The Doctor, It is controversially announced that the next doctor would be a woman and all would be explained in Matt's final special. Now, here is where you come in,
You
are the head writer for this Doctor. As the head writer how would you answer the following questions:

  1. Who would you cast as the Female!Doctor?
  2. What would The Doctor's personality be like?
  3. How would you write the Doctor's Regeneration from a man to a woman?
  4. Who would you cast as her first companion?
  5. How would their dynamic change with the change of gender?
  6. Would it drastically change the show?
    Last but not least,
  7. Would you even watch this incarnation of The Doctor as a fan?

Fic: And Then You Forgot

Title: And Then You Forgot
Characters: Donna Noble (with references to the Doctor, slight references to Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, and Jack Harkness)
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I don't own the characters, BBC does, etc.
Summary: Donna remembers strange faces, faraway lands, and a skinny bloke in pinstripes. Unfortunately, her dreams are starting to become visions that interrupt her everyday life. A one-shot looking at the tragedy of Donna Noble during a year after Journey's End.

So, I am probably the last person to board this particular boat, but, just in case there are any similarly n00b-ful (by which we most likely mean non-British) fangeeks out there who also need enlightening on the subject; I've just discovered that the person who's been doing the narrator v/o on Little Britain all this time is Tom Baker.

Youtube time! <333

It's amazing how much funnier I find that show now... <3

In the end of Last of the Time Lords, I believe the Doctor offers to take Jack along in the TARDIS. But wasn't the reason they went to the end of the universe in the first place because the TARDIS was reacting adversely to Jack? Wouldn't it cause too many problems to have him along?

The weekend has arrived

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 8:12 PM
I am as close to being done with work as I can be for the week. I will have to stay logged in pretty much all weekend and keep an eye on a very long running data loading process but I don't actually have to do any work. I could use a fun and relaxing weekend. The last two weeks have been tough and I don't expect the next two to be an better as far as work goes.

Tomorrow is my first photography field trip. We're going to the UT Gardens and taking pictures of anything and everything. It officially starts at 7:00 but I might try to get there just a little early because I know Lisa wants me back home ASAP so she can drag me to I can go to Gatlinburg with everyone. Okay, okay, don't take that the wrong way. It's just that I know how horrendous the traffic is going to be in Pigeon Forge and I'm not looking forward to....

HEY! I just remembered that there's a photography contest running on a website I visit has to do with pictures of traffic. Perhaps I can work a photo op into this trip.

In other news, Lisa and Mary are off with the Jones family in Lexington. Justin had a successful job interview and they found a house. They should all be back here tonight. Katy and I are holding down the fort with the animals.

I bought a Captain Jack figure a week or so back and he happened to be one who is part of the Gelth Phantom Build-a-Figure set. If anyone would like the part that came with him (the stand) please leave me a comment or drop me a line at groovybluecha@yahoo.com and I'll be more than happy to send it to you for the cost of shipping. I'm in the U.S. and will send anywhere. I have postive feedback from BSTing on livejournal here in my personal journal. I'd love to see this piece go to a fellow fan. Thanks!

Again, this is just the loose stand. You won't get Jack. If you want the packaging please let me know. :)

OK Doc

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 3:00 PM

Title: OK Doc
Author: [info]betawho
Rating: PG (for slight naughtiness)
Characters: 9th Doctor and Rose
Author's Note: Refers to the First Doctor story, "The Gunslingers."

Summary: The Ninth Doctor gets to play cowboy as he and Rose accidentally end up back at the OK Corral. But something new is brewing in Tombstone, involving an ancient culture, a myth, a legend, and a bunny rabbit.

OK Doc

The Tardis materialized.

The Doctor stepped out and took a look around the small dusty courtyard. “Oh, so not going to happen,” he muttered in disgust. He turned around. “Back inside, Rose,” he said, shooing her before him.

She sidestepped, “Why? What is it? What’s wrong?” She looked around the small cramped yard, tall wooden fencing blocked out any view to speak of, but it was hot, with a dry heat similar to a desert, and it smelled of animals and rotting garbage. She held her nose and looked over at the pile of moldering onions that stood at the back door of the ramshackle, clapboard building they’d apparently materialized behind. “It stinks.”

“Yes it does,” he said, giving the words an ominous ring that indicated something more dire than onions.

Rose gave him a sour look as he again tried to use his body mass to herd her into the Tardis. She ducked around him, trotted over to the tall board fence, and found a knothole to peek through.

Beyond was the long, dirt road, rough buildings, and wooden sidewalk of an Old West town.

“Brilliant!” she beamed and turned to the Doctor. “We’re in the Old West!”

He slumped and grumped, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “Yes, and I’ve been here before. The whole experience gave me a toothache.”

Let me know if I should continue the story.

It seems Tom Baker has finally been convinced to return to the role.

DISCLAIMER: I know nothing about BF. The only one I've heard is that freebie released online years ago starring Colin, so all I'm doing is passing on what I've heard. If it turns out to be a hoax, weren't me, guv.

Results of Pewter's Breakout

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 12:20 PM
Pewter got a bite on his shoulder from the cat he chased off the patio, when he scratched himself through the screen door nearly 2 weeks ago. And it got infected. It required a trip to the vet. She gave him a sedative, something for pain, and an antibiotic. She lanced it, drained the wound, and flushed it out and applied an antibiotic ointment. $221 USD

Here's the boy in his Elizabethan collar. He's all ready for the Ren-faire going on in my back bedroom closet. (I do historical re-enactment and he's made a nest in the trains of my costumes!)
